Bell, Leland 19xx -
Leland Bell is an Anishinabe from the Wikwemikong Unceded First Nation on Manitoulin Island, Ontario, Canada. His Anishinabe name is Bebaminojmat. He is Loon Clan and is a 'second degree' member of the Three Fires Midewiwin Society.
He practices his creativity within the context of his Anishinabe being. All the paradigms that sustain his creativity exist within his Anishinabe culture. He absorbs what he needs and discards what he doesn't need from other cultures and remains...Anishinabe. He examines universal subjects through the use of Anishinabe philosophy and his Anishinabe experiences.
Leland has been painting for the past twenty-five years. His work is represented in many prominent art collections in North America and Europe. He has also been an art instructor and has conducted numerous workshops and presentations throughout North America. | | http://www.whetung.com/bell.html |
